Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, China, hosted the 2026 China Economic and Social Forum, with the participation of prominent Chinese and foreign figures from more than 60 countries and regions. They engaged in in-depth discussions on “Improving the global governance system and building a community with a shared future for mankind.”
This important forum is organized by the Zhejiang Provincial Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and hosted by the China Economic and Social Council. It is taking place amidst global challenges characterized by escalating disagreements, conflicts, and economic and social crises.
In key speeches delivered by prominent participants and officials at the forum, they emphasized that the Global Governance Initiative proposed by President Xi Jinping serves as a vital addition to international efforts and various development, security, and civilization initiatives, providing strategic support for building a community with a shared future for mankind.
Speakers stressed the necessity of strengthening the exchange of governance experiences, practicing true multilateralism, and adhering to a vision based on extensive consultation, joint contribution, and shared benefits. The forum also highlighted Zhejiang Province’s experience in implementing the ‘Eight-Double Strategy’ and deepening consultative democracy, affirming a readiness to expand friendly cooperation and exchanges across economic, cultural, environmental, and social fields to make global governance more scientific and effective.
