Distinguished Guests, Ladies and Gentlemen,
First and foremost, I would like to express my sincere gratitude and appreciation to the organizing committee for this kind invitation and for giving me the opportunity to deliver this speech.
It is my great honor to address you today at this esteemed forum to shed light on a vital issue that touches the very core of human dignity: “Deepening Cooperation Among Civil Society Organizations for Poverty Reduction toward Shared Prosperity.”
Today, our world faces complex crises and escalating economic challenges that exacerbate poverty and widen inequalities between societies. In light of these dynamics, individual governmental efforts are no longer sufficient. This highlights the indispensable role of civil society organizations as key actors in achieving sustainable development. Strengthening cooperation among these organizations, both locally and internationally, is the primary gateway to transforming fragmented efforts into integrated strategies that reduce poverty and establish a framework for shared prosperity.
Dear Colleagues,
Local organizations possess a profound understanding of their communities’ realities, making them best equipped to target those most in need. Meanwhile, international organizations provide funding, technical expertise, and knowledge transfer. Today, we have inspiring models that demonstrate the success of this field-level integration:
In the Arab and Maghreb region, the Algerian experience stands out as a pioneering model in integrating civil society into national strategies to combat marginalization, particularly in rural and isolated areas.
Local associations have coordinated their efforts to deliver sustainable solutions beyond emergency relief toward economic empowerment; this includes supporting micro-initiatives, offering soft loans to rural women and artisans for productive projects, and rehabilitating basic infrastructure in coordination with state institutions.
On the international stage, the Chinese experience serves as a global benchmark, having successfully lifted over 800 million people out of extreme poverty through a strategy of “Targeted Poverty Alleviation.” This transformation is vividly reflected in the mountainous Guizhou Province, where civil society and local cooperatives joined forces under the field guidance of the Communist Party of China, fully aligned with central government plans. Together, they modernized infrastructure, expanded rural e-commerce, and promoted eco-tourism and economic empowerment for ethnic minorities.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
To translate these successful models into a tangible global impact, I would like to propose four actionable mechanisms for cooperation from this platform:
Establish joint international platforms to coordinate field initiatives and avoid the duplication of efforts.
Build equal, peer-to-peer partnerships that combine the funding and technical expertise of international organizations with the deep local knowledge of community-based organizations.
Create flexible financial funds managed jointly to finance social innovation and economic empowerment projects.
Develop digital databases to facilitate the sharing of best practices and smart applications in rural development.
In conclusion,
Poverty alleviation is not merely a charitable or humanitarian endeavor; it is a strategic imperative for global security and stability. Herein lies the pivotal role of international civil society cooperation as the essential bridge for integrating expertise and mobilizing resources across borders. Moving from isolated initiatives to structured institutional solidarity is the driving force that will turn theoretical promises into real-world results—paving the way toward a future defined by justice, solidarity, and shared prosperity for all peoples of the earth.
Thank you for your kind attention.
